One Dies As Christian/Muslim Students Clash In Yola

A student of Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola, Adamawa state, has reportedly been killed while many others were seriously injured following a clash that occurred between Christian and Muslim students in the school.

The fight which started on Sunday reportedly lingered till Monday. It started after the result of the student’s union government election of the institution favoured a particular group.

Channels TV reports that the clash may not be unconnected with the local Students Union Government (SUG) election of the university.

The outcome of the election reportedly angered Muslim students in the institution because the Christians won the key positions.

It was gathered that the Muslim students launched an attack on the Christians while they were having a fellowship.

The students ought to have commenced their exams yesterday but the University authorities, after an emergency meeting, ordered that the school be closed and that all students vacate the premises until further notice.
