OPC, Hunters, Arrest Kidnappers In Osun After Collecting Ransom

Seven suspected kidnappers have been arrested in connection with the abduction of three travellers along Omoh/Erin-Ijesha road in Ori-Ade Local Government Area of Osun State.

The travelers were abducted on Sunday night and our correspondent gathered that the suspects were smoked out through the collaborative efforts of Odua People’s Congress, hunters and vigilantes.

Kidnappers had abducted the travelers on Sunday and the police said one of the abducted passengers was rescued.

Our correspondent gathered that the remaining two victims were released by the kidnappers on Tuesday night. A source said the kidnappers were forced to free the remaining victims because the OPC members, hunters and the vigilantes intensified the search and combed the forest.

One of the members of the families of one of the victims told journalists that the kidnappers demanded N10m ransom but said N1m was paid.

“The kidnappers demanded N10 million ransom but we intensified our rescue mission in the forest. We combed everywhere and those kidnappers knew that they could be caught so they quickly collected the N1m raised by the family and released their victims.

“One of the victims claimed to be released on Monday ran from those kidnappers. Six of the kidnappers were arrested and handed over to the police, ” the source said.

The Osun State Coordinator of Oodua Peoples Congress, Deji Aladesawe, confirmed that seven suspected kidnappers were arrested by his men, hunters and vigilantes and those arrested had been handed over to the police.
