Over 5.04 Million Nigerians Applied For 400,000 N- Power Jobs—FG

The Federal Government has confirmed that over 5.04 million people applied for the N- Power Batch C  scheme.

The government aims to employ 400,000 people, both graduates and non-graduates in the Batch C of the scheme.

The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs Disaster Management and Social Development said this in a statement on Tuesday, while officially  announcing the closure of the  registration of Batch C of N-Power.

The ministry had on June 26 commenced the registration process for the N- Power scheme which was initially scheduled to end on July 26 this year.

The  Ministry however extended the date by two weeks to allow opportunity for those that were unable to apply for the scheme.

 The ministry said, “A total of 5,042,001   Nigerian youths have applied as at the end of the exercise.”

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, re-assured Nigerians that the selection process would follow due process and merit would be prioritised.

Farouq added, “The Ministry will ensure that the applicants, as well as the general public, are kept fully informed on the progress of the scheme.” 

According to Farouq,   only women and persons with disability will be prioritised during the selection process. 

She said the  N-Power program was targeted at providing the Nigerian youths with opportunities to gain skills for employability and entrepreneurship

This, she stated would help in assisting the country towards the post Covid 19 economic recovery.

The minister reiterated the commitment of the ministry to the vision of President Muhammadu Buhari to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in the next ten years.

According to her,  the N-power was one of the platforms that could assist in the realisation of poverty reduction in the country.
