Why Legislators Will Support Wike’s N18Bn Loan Request – Hon. Major Jack

A member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Major Jack, has given reasons why Governor Nyesom Wike’s request for N18 billion loan would sail through in the house.

Responding to a question by THE WHISTLER shortly after plenary on Tuesday at the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex in Moscow Road, Portharcourt, jack spoke on why legislators would give approval to the loan request now before the state assembly.

He said: “The loan request is self explanatory and very well understood by my humble self and the rest of my colleagues.

“It is about another phase of development for Rivers people. The loan when gotten by the State Government will not only bring infrastructural development for the state, but will also give employment opportunities to Rivers sons and daughters.

“The purpose of this loan is for infrastructure development and the projects will include the State’s Fourth Flyover, Birabi, Elembu and Mummy B roads construction and payment of facilities including compensation of properties to be destroyed by the massive construction works.

“Gov. Nyesom Wike’s administration is poised at delivering the dividends of good governance, and he does this for the overall interest of the State and our people. And his positive intentions and efforts are what made me supported the approval of the loan during debate,” Jack added.

Jack stated further that the loan would be secured by the State’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), and shall be fully repaid before the end of the Gov. Nyesom-Wike’s administration in May, 2023.
