Oyo, Anambra Governors Relax Lockdown

The Governors of Oyo and Anambra States, Seyi Makinde and Willie Obiano, have relaxed lockdown in their respective states.

Seyi Makinde ordered that the dusk to dawn curfew in the state, be relaxed from 7pm to 6 am, to 7pm to 5 am, so as to accommodate farmers, this planting season but within the guidelines of social distancing.

He also directed that only markets that fully comply with the COVID-19 guidelines( including hand washing facilities at strategic places and wearing of face masks) would be allowed to reopen.

Furthermore, he ordered the reopening of the State Secretariat from Monday 27 April, but added that only civil servants at level 13 and above with separate offices would resume.

He also listed the following guidelines to be observed at the State Secretariat:

  1. There will be new security measures in place including having only one gate to serve as entrance and exit. All other gates will be closed.
  2. All meetings will be held online.
  3. No visitors are allowed except absolutely necessary.
  4. There will be hand washing facilities in strategic locations around the secretariat.
  5. One 100ml hand sanitizer & face mask will be given to each officer.
  6. Bush canteens around the secretariat will remain closed. Officers are encouraged to bring their own food for lunch.

On his part, the Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano, Saturday, relaxed some aspects of the lockdown imposed on the state to curtail the spread of the coronavirus.

Governor Obiano, who stated this in a broadcast to the people of the state, also directed worshippers to wear face masks and enforce all World Health Organisation’s guidelines during church and Jumat services, such as regular hand washing, avoiding handshakes, application of hand sanitizers, social distancing and observing basic personal hygiene.

He also said that movements around the state had been relaxed, but affirmed that all boundaries in the state remained closed.

“All food and drug markets in the state are to open with immediate effect.

“I’ll meet with market leaders on Monday, 27th April, 2020. Updates about when to re-open the schools as well as when civil servants will be allowed to go back to their offices will be announced soon,” he added.
