Re: Cry Our Beloved Town

Before you embark on this fruitless voyage of whipping up parochial sentiments and stirring the peace loving people of Idumuje Ugboko whom you have rightly described as “a town blessed with top quality citizenry endowed with intellectual financial and other capacities….. a town brimming with very successful young men in all endeavours….it also boasts of very patriotic young men judging from their parental backgrounds and the zeal with which they render the anthem “I Love Ugboko. Ugboko loves me, no circumstances can change my opinion”, let me show you that you should have added, in your penultimate quote, that “evil thrives when good men fail to act (and not “when honest men choose to be withdrawn”, as you quoted).

Having set the stage therefore, you may need to be further tutored that “error may have gone half way across the world while truth is just putting on it boots”.  This “single young man” you alluded to as the source of your worries, it will interest you to note, has done more for Idumuje-Ugboko, arguably, than any you would like to mention. I stand to be challenged.

Furthermore, this “single young man”, to all intents and purposes, is a die hard protagonist of the sanctity, due process, and indeed strict adherence to the customs and traditions of Idumuje-Ugboko. He is not only an unrepentant protagonist of the obedience of the cultural heritage of the people, but also will stop at nothing to ward off those who, by their actions and inactions, will desecrate, demean or demonize the sanctity of the customs and traditions of Idumuje-Ugboko community.

It is laughable for you to posit, very erroneously, dear Mr. Azu Aligbe, that” a young man with easy wealth (from his spending pattern), is orchestrating various court cases and mischievously linking our Crown Prince with all of them, just to bring him, and in actuality, Ugboko to disrepute?” (End of quote).

Assuming, but not DEFINITELY conceding, as you claim, that this “single young man” is the cause of the Crown Prince’s legal blues, then let’s mutually ponder these questions.

Was it this “single young man” that petitioned the Crown Prince over forgery of the late Obi’s signature?

Was it this “Single young man” that investigated the petition and came out with the verdict that the Crown Prince had a case to answer and advised, after the Department of Public Prosecutions (DPP) of the State Ministry of Justice had reechoed the Police Verdict of “guilty” and thus charged the matter to a Chief Magistrate Court in Asaba?

Why did the Crown Prince absent himself from the trials thus invoking the wrath of the trial Chief Magistrate who issued a bench warrant for his arrest?

And who has desecrated the traditional institution of Idumuje Ugboko more than the one who connived, with some Palace miscreants, by burying the departed Obi, in the very midnight of his passing on to join his ancestors without recourse to following traditional due process of informing the Iyese who is the next in superiority after the Obi?

Or is it the sordid issues surrounding the sacrilege of raping a 15 year old Princess in the Palace which was concealed with the connivance of a prominent “Prince”?

In trying to whip up sentiments and cry “Wolf” where there is none, you, Azu Aligbe, have only succeeded in opening up a can of worms which by now would have died of what I will term “a dog eat dog” situation in the innermost parts of the earth?

Well for starters, Azu Aligbe, it is trite law, a conclusion both unanimous and obvious, that “those who live in glass houses should not throw stones” The literal “stone” you have thrown, via your biased and non-factual article, as earlier stated, reflects a sordid conglomeration of enslaved mentality, coupled with a despicable and nauseating allegiance to puny mindedness.

You have also failed, very clearly, to substantiate your very unfounded and spurious claim that “a single young man, backed by a few satanic followers, wreck havoc on the calm in Idumuje-Ugboko because of his vaulting selfish ambition…

Even with your commendable literary use of every conceivable term ranging from alliteration to simile, metaphor, oxymoron, personification, just name it, you clearly painted a very worrying imagery of Idumuje-Ugboko as a “widow”! How contradictory that in one breath you claim Idumuje-Ugboko is a widow in tears while in the same breath, she is endowed with “top quality citizenry endowed with intellectual, financial and other capacities…. as well as a town brimming with very successful young men in all endeavours….?!

Very disheartening, alsoj, Messrs. Azu Aligbe, Azu Aligbe, Okey Omezi, Felix Sunday Banye, Ogbeche, Igwe Enuoyibo, and last but not the least. Okey Ifejoku, how come that you and your “crew” are opposed to the proposed Sports University, an initiative of this “single young man” whose vision will not only open up socio economic activities and usher in unprecedented development to your homeland, but also place Idumuje-Ugboko firmly on the world map? Don’t you know that your negative and retrogressive actions negates the true spirit of development that our community and indeed other climes globally are embracing? Shame indeed!

Finally, I wish to appeal to you that the picture you have unsuccessfully tried to paint of the “Single young man” having anything to do with the legal and royal woes of the Crown Prince have nothing whatsoever to do with this “Single young man” whose track records of exemplary Public and Community Service, who is known globally for his forthrightness, philanthropy and empathy is mind boggling, commendable and worthy of applause.

You are collectively, and it is verifiable, that you are a bunch of rapists, smugglers, blackmailers, forgers and never do wells, whose stock in trade is cheap propaganda that won’t do you any good. The University that you are petitioning relevant authorities about, holds the key to many a developmental challenge in your home town. How ironic that you have no vision to “see” that it is in your own interest that “this young man” has blazed the trail at his own expense and hard reputation, to bequeath to your community, a lasting legacy for the posterity of the community?

God bless this “Single young man” a worthy representative of Idumuje-Ugboko.

And to you Azu Aligbe, thank you for causing this opportunity to set the records straight, and that is, that “the truth wears no disguise”, Time will tell who is for or against the peace and unity of the customs and tradition of the Idumuje-Ugboko people. Or even its progress.

Definitely final, dearly beloved Azu Aligbe, you must, on record, be proud of “this young man” who through thick and thin, who braved the odds, who, like the proverbial icon, came, saw and conquered. This “young man”, whose “sandals”, you and your ignoble ilk, are unworthy to untie, is unarguably, the toast of the international community. Do you not know that he is the doyen of Paris Club consultants in the whole of Africa, the beacon of light in more ways than one? Or so you didn’t know? Oh, Azu Aligbe, failed projects like you and your ilk cannot, will not and will never, frustrate the sterling efforts of “this young man”.

And one more word Azu Aligbe, “CEST FINI”!
