Sanchez, Ozil Not Leaving In January – Wenger

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil will not be leaving the club during the January transfer window, “unless something incredible” happens.

Sanchez and Ozil have both been linked with some of the biggest clubs in Europe, as the contracts of both players expire at the end of the season.

Speaking in a press conference on Tuesday ahead of Arsenal’s home fixture against Huddersfield Town, the 68-year-old manager says he is hopeful both players will stay at the club next season.

“Yes, of course. That is what we said many times.” Wenger responded to a question on if the pair would still be Arsenal players on February 1.

“I don’t think every day about it. As long as they are here, they have to give their all for the club. In my head, they are here until the end of the season. That was the decision at the start of the season.

“Unless something incredible happens, I don’t think that will change. We are not in December yet! For me, they stay until the end of the season. Will they stay longer? That is impossible to answer today. But they have a contract until the end of the season.”

The French coach also said is a possibility that the pair will sign new contracts and remain at the club for the 2018/19 campaign.

Arsenal are currently placed 4th with 25 points on the English Premier League table, 12 points behind league leaders Manchester City.
