The Deputy Minority leader of the Senate, Senator Emmanuel Bawcha has announced that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senators will no longer support President Muhammadu Buhari.

Bawcha made the announcement on Wednesday, on the floor of the Senate chambers.

The announcement is coming just as Senate President Bukola Saraki and his deputy Ike Ekweremadu were served criminal charges by the court, over allegations of conspiracy and forgery of Senate Standing Rules that brought them to office last year, filed by the Federal Government.

You will recall that the PDP Senators, who expressed their disapproval of the invitation, also frowned at the freezing of the Ekiti state Governor, Ayo Fayose’s account by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday, June 20, 2016.

You will also recall that the 49 PDP Senators, in August 2015, declared their support for Buhari.

But in a swift reaction to the recent developments, the senators while describing the court charges as plots geared towards impeachment, stated that they will no longer cooperate with the government until they cease their cantankerous acts.

Bawcha said “We condemn the plot to remove the senate president and his deputy through illegal means.

“We will no longer cooperate with the APC government until they cease their belligerent acts.”

Adding that “The freezing of account of Ekiti state governor is a clear political witch-hunt.

“We wish the government to act with caution and desist from acts of lawlessness.”
