Two COVID-19 Patients Test Negative In Enugu

The Enugu State Ministry of Health, Sunday, announced that two out of the ten previously active Covid-19 cases undergoing treatment in the state had tested negative.

According to the state’ health commissioner, Prof Emmanuel Ikechukwu Obi, the two are currently being assessed for discharge from the isolation and treatment centre. He said the two cases were the three-year old and 13-year old contacts of the third case in the state, a native of Bauchi State with travel history to Plateau State.

The commissioner attributed the successes so far recorded in the fight against the pandemic in the state to the commitment of Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi as well as the motivated staff of the state health ministry.

He said, “The good people of the state are still encouraged to continue to comply with the directives of the federal government and the Enugu State government on containment of the spread of COVID-19 as well as the precautionary measures in the public health advisory of the Federal Ministry of Health, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), and the Enugu State Ministry of Health.”

Meanwhile, the Enugu State government, Saturday, gave palliatives to members of the Radio Television Theatre Art Workers Union (RATTAWU), Enugu State, to cushion the effect of the lockdown.

Palliatives for the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Enugu State chapter, were however suspended on matters pertaining to union’s membership. The suspension was announced by the deputy governor of the state, Hon. Mrs. Cecilia Ezeilo, represented by the leader of the state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ikechukwu Ezeugwu.

Ezeilo told RATTAWU members to keep enlightening ‘our people on the precautionary measures and protocol for containment of the spread of COVID-19, as directed and advised by the Federal Government, the Enugu State Government, the World Health Organization (WHO), the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), and the Enugu State Ministry of Health.”

The chairman of the association, Comrade Ndudi Chude, commended the governor and his team for ‘their dogged fight against this pandemic’, and urged them to sustain the tempo.
