Following the renewed hostility with the Legislative arm of government, Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has said the executive has an excellent mechanism to resolve all differences.

Mr. Mohammed stated this while addressing State House correspondents shortly after the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting held at the Council of Chambers, Presidential Villa Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

The Senate, on Tuesday, suspended all nominees sent to it by the executive until contentious issues surrounding their powers to confirm appointees are resolved.

The lawmakers insisted their stance will not change until the Acting President respects the rejection of Ibrahim Magu as Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), as contained in the Constitution.

When asked whether the Senate issue was raised during the weekly FEC meeting, the minister said: “It came up, we have an excellent strategy in dealing with issues with the national assembly.

“Whatever may be the misunderstanding or problem between the National Assembly and Executive, we have an excellent mechanism of dealing with it,” he said.

The Senate had in April rejected Mr. Magu’s nomination as EFCC chairman, citing a report compiled by the State Security Service, SSS, accusing Mr. Magu of indecency.

Osinbajo had in April drummed support for Magu, saying the Acting Chairman of the anti-graft agency u enjoys his confidence, and that of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“I’m fully in support of Magu as the EFCC Chairman just as the president is…” Mr Osinbajo said.

“It is up to the Senate to make their judgement. If our candidate is rejected, …, we can represent our candidate.”
