Ahead of the general elections earlier scheduled for February 16, and March 2, the Independent National Electoral Commission last night postponed the election.
INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, announced the shift at a stakeholders meeting at the commission’s headquarters citing logistics difficulties.
Electoral body postponed the Presidential/National Assembly and Gubernatorial/House of Assembly elections to February 23 and March 9, respectively.
Nigerians have, however, taken to social media platforms to react to the postponement saying the commission had assured Nigerians that arrangements for a successful, free and peaceful process was ready.

Election has been postponed as expected, there is nothing new about it, this happened in 2011 and 2015, we really need to get our act right in this country, logistics has been a major problems, this is as a result of poor infrastructural deficit over the years #NigeriaDesides2019

Dear Commissioner, you had one job which is to conduct free and fair election and you had 4 years to prepared for it and you failed. If you’re an honorable enough I did expect you to honorably resign and let who’s capable enough to lead the commission. #NigeriaDesides2019 https://t.co/I9CaJhdVnv

Mr Buhari can't Rig this 2019 Elections in collaboration with INEC.
The Cabals planned to use the Osun Template by postponing election in over 10 states, watch the outcome in 26 states and do magic on rescheduled date for d 10.#NigeriaDesides2019— Vicky Thompson (@Chinonu) February 16, 2019
I'm just here wondering what the international observers, European Union commission and others would be thinking now that the election has been postponed, can we say 4 good years is not enough for INEC to plan and organize election. #NigeriaDecides2019#NigeriaDesides2019 pic.twitter.com/2NkxofmTF1

I hope this annoys people enough to come out to vote on the 23rd of February and 9th of march. I hope this postponement lights a fire in their souls and makes them see…more than ever…that we must take our nation back.
