Abia To Strengthen Oversight On Road Projects, Announces Free Medical Outreach

The Abia State Government has announced a multi-pronged initiative focused on strengthening project oversight, improving healthcare access, and investing in infrastructure development.

Following a recent Executive Council Meeting, Commissioner for Information and Culture, Prince Okey Kanu, briefed journalists on the government’s commitment to robust project monitoring and evaluation. The recently fortified monitoring and assessment unit will ensure the efficient execution of projects undertaken by the Alex Otti administration.

This focus on accountability emphasizes the government’s dedication to ensuring value for every naira spent, with projects adhering to established specifications.

Kanu emphasized the Otti-led administration’s commitment to responsible governance. Measures are being implemented to guarantee the judicious use of public funds, ultimately benefiting Abia residents and citizens.

“This approach ensures that all government initiatives are executed in a way that maximizes the state’s resources,” Kanu stated. “This ensures the best possible outcomes and delivers the dividends of democracy to Abians, aligning with established government programs and policies.”

The government is actively engaged in the rehabilitation of 27 road projects across Abia State. This significant investment in infrastructure development is expected to continue, with improved road networks acting as a key driver for economic growth.

On a positive note for public health, Prince Kanu announced an upcoming free medical mission facilitated by the Association of Nigerian Physicians in America (ANPA). The outreach program is scheduled for April and is expected to provide medical care to over 2,500 patients, with projections indicating that the total number of beneficiaries could reach over 5,000.
