APC Set To Take Kwara From Saraki, Destroy His Political Structure

There are indications that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has resolved to field a candidate as strong as that of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to be able to take Kwara State from Senate President, Bukola Saraki’s grip in the coming governorship election in the state.

Vanguard is reporting that APC stakeholders in Kwara state have thought it wise to ensure Alh. Modibbo Kawu emerges the party’s governorship primary candidate in the state as he’s from Kwara Central and as such would serve as a strong contender against candidate of the PDP, Hon Abdulrazaq Atunwa, who is equally from Asa local government in Kwara central.

The zone is usually where the highest number of votes is recorded during elections in the state and the candidate of the PDP is considered well grounded in that zone.

The APC stakeholders, which comprise Barrister Sambo, Dr Amuda Aluko and Chief Cornelius Adebayo among others, are said to have resolved to ensure Kwau’s emergence out of the other governorship aspirants on its platform namely; Mohammed Dele Belgore SAN, Alh Abdulrazaq Abdulrahaman and Alh Akeem Lawal.

Part of the party leaders’ decision to support Kawu, who is the Director-General of the Nigeria Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), is said to be because he’s considered a deep rooted Kwara politician and who can serve as the party’s best bet against PDP’s Atunwa.

Vanguard quoted one of the stakeholders as saying, “This time, around it’s not about personality because we realised from our interactions with them that all our aspirants are eminently qualified to be governor of this state. But the reality is that there is one seat and it’s for one person. So, we have a good hand from kwara central, who can pull the stunt to defeat Saraki and his so called structure in kwara, and we agreed on him, though its not supposed to be in the public domain yet”
