The statement did not reveal details of the arrest, but the group said Okeke was arrested in his house on Thursday.

It described the arrest as illegal, saying Mr Okeke is a member of ” non-violent pro Biafra family (BIM-MASSOB) led by Chief Ralph Uwazuruike.”

The group called for his immediate and “unconditional release.”
