BREAKING: Court Sacks Gbajabiamila’s Campaign DG, Abdulmumin Jibrin From House

The Court of Appeal sitting in Kano State has sacked Abdulmumin Jibrin as the lawmaker representing Kiru/Bebeji federal constituency in the House of Representatives.

The court on Friday nullified Jubrin’s election and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a fresh election in that constituency within 60 days.

Justice Ajoke Adepoju handed down the judgement while hearing an appeal brought before the court by Ali Datti, who was the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the election.

Datti had alleged that the election was marred  with over-voting and other electoral malpractices.

He appealed the judgement of the National and State Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal which earlier upheld Jubrin’s election victory on September 5, 2019.

Jubrin, who is a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC), had represented Kiru/Bebeji constituency in the 8th House.

He was first elected to represent the constituency under the PDP in 2011 before defecting to the APC in 2014.
