Buhari, Economic Advisory Council Meet

President Muhammadu Buhari and members of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council are meeting right now.

The virtual meeting is coordinated from the State House, Abuja.

The EAC is chaired by Prof Doyin Salami and has the duty of advising the administration on economic policies.

While Salami and other members are linked to the meeting via teleconference, Buhari and key government ministers are participating from the State House.

Those at the State House include the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; Chief of Staff to the President, Prof Ibrahim Gambari; Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed; and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.

Recall that Buhari had in September 2019, replaced the Economic Management Team hitherto headed by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, with the EAC.

Aside from Salami, other members of the EAC are Dr Mohammed Sagagi ; Prof Ode Ojowu; Dr Iyabo Masha; Prof. Chukwuma Soludo; Mr Bismark Rewane; and Dr Mohammed Adaya Salisu.
