Buhari, Ministers Hold 10th Virtual FEC Meeting

– Kawara Gov’s Father Remembered

President Muhammadu Buhari and ministers are holding a meeting of the Federal Executive Council in Abuja.

It’s the 10th virtual session of the FEC, following the outbreak of the COVID -19 pandemic.

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo is also attending the meeting, which has eight ministers physically participating at the State House in line with the COVID-19 safety protocols.

Other top officials of government sighted at the opening were the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; Chief of Staff to the President, Prof Ibrahim Gambari; and the National Security Adviser, Maj.-Gen Babagana Monguno (retd.).

The Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister for Justice, Abubakar Malami; Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed; Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed; Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, Interior; Rauf Aregbesola; Trade and Investment, Niyi Adebayo; and Power, Saleh Mamma, are among the ministers physically present.

All other ministers and the Head of Service of the Federation, Mrs Folasade Yemi-Esan, are attending the session virtually from their different locations.

The session earlier observed a minute’s silence in honour of a First Republic Minister, Abdulganiyu Abdulrasaq, who died last week.

He was the father to Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq.

The SGF, expressing the feelings of other FEC members over the deceased, stated that “the legacies of Alhaji Folorunso Abdul-Rasaq, lawyer, politician, businessman, distinguished administrator, educationist and community leader will forever remain with us.”

He was also the Mutawali of Ilorin and Tafida of Zazzau.
