Buhari Nominates FCT CJ As International Criminal Court Judge

President Muhammad Buhari has nominated the Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Ishaq Bello, as a judge at the International Criminal Court in Hague.

The President’s aide on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, announced this on Thursday on his Twitter handle.

The tweet read, “President Muhammadu Buhari has nominated Mr Ishaq Usman Bello, the Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, as judge at the International Criminal Court (ICC) in Hague.”

Bello graduated from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he bagged his LLB (Hons) in 1982.

According to his profile piblished on wikipedia, he was appointed the CJ of FCT, Right Court in 2015.

It reads, “In 1983, he obtained his BL Certificate from Nigerian Law School, Lagos. He later returned to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 2008 where he acquired his LLM in International and Criminal Law.

“He went into private practice in 1984 and worked as a legal practitioner at Umaru Yabo and Co. in Sokoto State. He was appointed a Magistrate in 1985.

“n 1987 he became the Head of Legal Recovery Department at University Bank of Nigeria Plc, Kaduna.

“Bello rose through the ranks of the judiciary to become a judge of then High Court, FCT between 1997 and 2015. He was made the Chief Judge of High Court, FCT, Abuja on 28th May, 2015.”
