Cameroun Beat Egypt To Win 2017 AFCON

Cameroun came from behind to defeat Egypt 2-1 and become the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations Champions, at the Stade de l’Amite Sino-Gabonaise, Libreville, on Sunday night.

Two second half strikes from Nicolas Nkolou and Vincent Aboubakar cancelled out El Neny’s first half opener to dent the Pharaoh’s hopes of claiming a record 8th AFCON titles.

Aboubakar came off the bench to score the winner with two minutes left on the clock as Cameroon fought back from behind to claim their 5th AFCON title and first since 2002..

Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny had given the Egyptians the lead in the 21st minute as the Pharaohs dominated proceedings in the first half and Egypt were on course for another AFCON trophy.

However, the Indomitable Lions were at their best in the second half. Nkoulou, who was a first half substitute , headed home the equaliser just before the hour mark and fellow substitute Aboubakar slammed in the winner in the 88th minute.

This was the first time the Indomitable Lions had beaten Egypt in the AFCON final, after failing to do so on three occasions.
