Luis Diaz gave Liverpool an early lead in the 11th minute with a close range finish.

Issa Diop dragged Fulham back into the game with a deflected effort in the 76th minute.

Liverpool survived late pressure from Fulham to book a place in the final against Chelsea on February 25 at the Wembley Stadium.

Liverpool manager, Jürgen Klopp is delighted to make another return to the Wembley after enjoying the previous visits.

Klopp said: “You should have seen the dressing room – they are over the moon, the young kids.

“The stadium [Wembley] will be full blue and red – it is a good one.

“Coming here tonight and then going through is special. You can never take these things for granted.

“After half an hour, our foot slipped off the gas, and it was more open. We had to bring it over the line, and we are really looking forward to Wembley.”

Liverpool have now qualified for a record 14th League Cup final, and they will fancy their chances against resurgent Chelsea.

The Reds got the better of Chelsea in the 2022-23 season when they met in the Carabao Cup final and also in the FA Cup final.

Chelsea will be hoping for revenge and the opportunity to end their poor record at Wembley, having lost their last three finals in the iconic stadium.
