Constitution Review: 18 Days After Gulak’s Murder, Reps Resume Hearing In Imo

More than two weeks after the House of Representatives suspended its scheduled zonal public hearing on constitution review in Owerri, Imo State, the federal lawmakers have resumed hearing of the constitution review organised by the National Assembly.

Members of the reps special committee in charge of the 1999 Constitution review process have arrived at the venue of the public hearing in the Imo State capital.

THE WHISTLER reported that the committee had earlier suspended the public hearing scheduled for June 1, 2021, following the murder of Ahmed Gulak, the former political adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan, in Owerri.

Gulak was on an official assignment as a consultant to the Senate committee on constitution review when he was murdered on May 29, 2021.

Meanwhile, our Imo correspondent reports that the resumed public hearing is ongoing at the Concord Hotel in Owerri.

Honorable Princess Miriam Odinaka Onuoha, the member representing Onuimo, Okigwe and Isiala Mbano, amongst others, have arrived at the venue.
