COVID-19: Africa Records Over 835,000 Recoveries Out Of 1.1m Cases

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) Africa Region, over 835,000 Covid-19 patients have been discharged so far.

In a tweet on Monday, WHO Africa Region, captured that a total of 1,119,393 Covid-19 cases had been registered as of Monday, 17 August,2020.

Sadly, the regional health agency stated that 25,644 lives had been taken by the Coronavirus.

Also, close to 50 per cent of the confirmed cases on the Continent, are in South Africa.

Recall that WHO had dispatched its medical staff to the country to further boost their Covid-19 response.

The country’s President, Cyril Ramaphosa, announced on (today: Monday, a further review of its Covid-19 guidelines.

The guidelines, among other things, called for “strict adherence to health protocols and social distancing measures,” by all and sundry.
