COVID-19: Police Begin Enforcement Of Social Restriction Order In Enugu

The Enugu State Police Command has began the enforcement of various social restriction orders as directed by both federal and Enugu State governments in an effort to contain the spread of coronavirus in the state.

A release by the state police command’s public relations officer, Daniel Ndukwe, states that, “Against the fatal nature of the novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), the Enugu State Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has issued social restriction orders as part of measures to curtail the spread of the virus in the state.

“Consequently, the commissioner of police, Enugu State Command, CP Ahmad Abdurrahman, while enjoining the good people of the state to voluntarily adhere to the restriction orders, has directed the immediate compliance and enforcement of the orders by Area Commanders, DPOs and Heads of Departments of the Command’s Tactical/Operational Units.

“Further to the above, the commissioner has set up a committee, headed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of Operations, to monitor and ensure compliance with the enforcement directive.”

The statement enjoins the good citizens of the state to remain law-abiding and vigilant while complying with the social restriction orders, and called on them to report anyone found violating the law to the nearest police station or call the command on 08032003702, 08075390882 or 08086671202.
