#DeadlineDay: Barcelona Sign Trincao, Becomes Club’s Ninth Portuguese Player

Spanish Champions FC Barcelona have reached an agreement with SC Braga for the transfer of Portuguese forward Francisco Trincao.

The club disclosed the development Friday, which happenes to be the deadline for the January transfer window in both the LaLiga and English Premier Leagues.

In a statement released on the club’s website- fcbarcelona.com, the club announced that the Braga star will join the Spanish Champions on 1 July 2020 in a transfer fee of €31 million, adding that the contract will last till the end of 2024/2025 campaign, with a buy out clause of €500 million.

The 21-year-old Portuguese began his carrer in the Braga youth team and FC Porto before he moved back to his first club- Braga in 2018.

Trincao has made 29 appearances for the club and scored three goals since his debut, however his current form is distinguished with three goals and six assists.

The club further gave reasons for the transfer as the ability of the star to play either forward flank despite being left footed and his dribble skills.

Other Portuguese that have worn the Barcelona outfit are: Jorge Alberto Mendonca, Luis Figo, Vitor Baia, Fernando Couto, Simao Sabrosa, Ricardo Quaresma, Deco and Andre Gomez.
