Ekiti 2022: Fayemi Orders Officials Eyeing His Office To Resign By December 18

Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has ordered public servants who are aspiring to be the next governor of the state to resign on or before December 18, 2021.

Fayemi gave the directive in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode.

The directive is coming about seven months to the Ekiti State governorship election scheduled for June 18, 2022.

The governor, who is serving a second term and cannot seek re-election to a third term, said in order not to interrupt service delivery, the aspirants need to step aside ahead of activities leading to the election.

The Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) had fixed the gubernatorial election for June 18 and directed political parties to conclude their primaries between January 4 to January 29, 2022.

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) had announced that its primary will be held on January 22, 2022 and had fixed November 16 for the commencement of the sales of nomination forms for Ekiti the Ekiti governorship election.
