Ekiti, Osun Results: Presidency ‘Disappointed’ At S/West APC Leaders Over Buhari’s Performance

The Presidency is not impressed with President Muhammadu Buhari’s performance in the South West following results of the presidential election in Ekiti and Osun states declared by INEC on Monday.

The Presidency is particularly disappointed at the leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South West for failing to help Buhari pull votes with wide margins against the President’s closest rival and candidate of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Results declared so far from Osun and Ekiti states show that President Buhari defeated Atiku Abubakr in the two states with a not so impressive margin. The South west is considered an APC territory in the 2019 election.

The State Collation Officers of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared on Monday that President Buhari polled 347,634 votes in Osun, and 219,231 votes in Ekiti.

Whereas Atiku of the PDP scored 337, 377 votes in Osun, while polling 154,032 votes in Ekiti State.

Responding to a tweet by a supporter who expressed disappointment at Buhari’s performance in the South West, the President’s Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmed, attributed his principal’s unimpressive performance to failure of the APC leaders in the region.

The Buhari supporter had tweeted via @dawisu, saying: “I am terribly disappointed and saddened by the South West results for APC, despite being the biggest beneficiary of this government both in terms of juicy appointments and projects, (they even got a whole new rail line from Lagos to Ibadan) yet, APC narrowly won. Shame!”

Bashir responded: “Our party leaders didn’t do very well there, South West? Anyway #BuhariIsWinning comfortably nationwide.”
