UPDATED: Federal High Court Strikes Out DSS Application To Detain Sowore

The Federal High court, Abuja has struck out an application by the Department of State Services (DSS) to detain Sowore.

The judgment was pronounced by Justice Inyang Ekwo.

DSS lawyer, Isoun Awo had prayed the court to withdraw its earlier application to detain Sowore, adding that the case have been overtaken by other events and that time has passed.

The Judge struck out the application.

The ruling follows a one-billion-naira human rights violation suit filed by the publisher of Sahara Reporters and Olawale Bakare, regarding his alleged unlawful detention by the DSS.

The separate suits were filed against the Director-General of the Department of State Service, Yusuf Bichi, and the Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr. Abubakar Malami.

Recall that the federal government is prosecuting a case against Sowore, on an alleged treasonable felony.
