Gov Ikpeazu Mandates Transport Commissioner To Close Illegal Motor Parks

The governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, Wednesday, directed the new state commissioner for transport, Chief Godswill Nwanoruo, to revolutionise the state transport policy to ensure sanity. He further charged the commissioner to close all illegal motor parks in Aba and Umuahia, as well as designate roads where tricycles would operate to curb their nuisance.

The governor also directed the new commissioner for environment, Mr Anthony Nwamuo, to utilise the templates of the ministry towards the realization of all NEWMAP projects in the state, including at Ngwa, Obohia, Ohanku and all adjoining roads along Ndiegoro, adding that the state government had fulfilled its World Bank counterpart funding requirements. On flooding in some parts of the state, the governor charged the environment commissioner to embark on massive de-silting of drainages.

Dr Ikpeazu further charged the new chairman of Umunneochi LGA, Eze Chikamnayo, to initiate programmes and policies to grow the economy of the local government, ensure security and enthrone harmony among the stakeholders of the area.

Dr Ikpeazu stated this during the swearing in of the new commissioners as well as the transition committee chairman for Umunneochi Local Government Area in Umuahia.

The trio, at the event, pledged to live up to expectations.
