Governorship Poll: PDP Concludes Campaigns, Urges Edo People To Protect Their Votes

The Peoples Democratic Party’a (PDP) National Campaign Council on Edo Governorship Election said on Thursday that all forms of campaigns had closed.

The party in a statement by its Spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, said canvassing for votes for the Saturday poll would end at midnight on Thursday in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act.

Ologbondiyan said by this statement, the PDP “no longer authorizes any campaign material under any form whatsoever for our party or our candidate for the September 19 election.”

He expressed the party’s gratitude to the leaders and people of Edo state for their solidarity and support for the party’s candidate, Governor Godwin Obaseki.

The PDP spokesman urged them to remain resilient in their determination “to vote and take all steps available in a democratic setting to protect their votes to the very end.”

The governorship election comes up on Saturday, September 19th.
