House Of Representatives Screens New Army Chief

The House of Representatives Joint Committees on Army and Defence has screened the new Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Major General Farouk Yahaya.

The House had screened Yahaya behind closed-doors on Tuesday.

President Muhammadu Buhari had appointed the new COAS on May 27, a week after his predecessor died alongside 10 others in an aircraft crash.

Following his appointment, Yahaya had asked Nigerians to support the military in tackling the issues of insecurity in the country.

Prior to his appointment, Yahaya was the general officer commanding 1 division of the Nigerian Army and the theatre commander of the counterterrorism and counter-insurgency military outfit code-named Operation Hadin Kai.
