I Remain President Until January 20th, Obama Cautions President-elect Trump

Incumbent President of the United States, Barack Obama, has cautioned President-elect Donald Trump against parading himself as President until January 20th, 2017.

Obama’s caution to Trump follows the latter’s undue interference in U.S. policies since his election.

Trump had, on Thursday, directed the U.S. Ambassador to the UN, Samantha Power, to veto the Security Council’s Resolution on Israeli settlements in Palestinian territory.

The President-elect’s directive was however ignored by the Obama administration as it withdrew from voting on the resolution on Friday, thereby drawing criticisms from the President-elect and his team.

Deputy National Security Advisor for Strategic Communications to President Obama, Ben Rhodes, however responded to Trump’s camp, saying the UN Security Council’s Resolution was a policy issue that the President-elect should not interfere with.

“On the President-elect, the first thing I’d just say is that there’s one President at a time.

“President Obama is the President of the United States until January 20th, and we are taking this action (abstention), of course, as U.S. policy,” he said.
