IGP Withdraws Police From VIPs

On Wednesday, the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, ordered the withdrawal of all police operatives attached to Very Important Persons (VIPs) with immediate effect.

The IGP directive come 10 days after the dissolution of the Special Anti- Robbery Squad (SARS) following protests against operatives of the squad based on allegations of extortion and extrajudicial killings.

According to a statement directed at the commissioners of Police in state commands, “any commander who violates this order will bear the consequences”.

The order, however, exempted those attached to Government Houses, the Senate President and the Speaker House of Representatives.
