Klopp, Jota Win Premier League January Awards

Liverpool manager, Jürgen Klopp and striker, Diogo Jota, have won the Premier League January manager of the month, and player of the month awards respectively.

The Reds enjoyed a successful month with stunning performances as they consolidated their Premier League title hopes.

Liverpool started the year with a 4-2 win over Newcastle United followed by a 4-0 win over Bournemouth away before ending the month with an impressive 4-1 win over Chelsea at Anfield.

Klopp’s men scored 12 goals and conceded three goals in three matches in the month under review and the run was enough to hand the German manager the manager of the month award.

He has now won the Premier League manager of the month award 10 times

Klopp is now the fifth manager to win the award 10 times after the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger, Pep Guardiola and David Moyes.

Liverpool striker, Diogo Jota also enjoyed a productive month in January, scoring three goals and recording two assists in three matches in the Premier League.

Jota fought off competition from Kevin De Bruyne, Elijah Adebayo, Conor Bradley, Gabriel and Richarlison to win the award.

He is the fourth Portuguese player to win the award following in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo, Deco and Bruno Fernandes.

It was indeed a clean sweep for Liverpool as young star, Conor Bradley was named the PFA fans player of the month for January.

Meanwhile, Klopp has confirmed that Mohammed Salah is set to return against Brentford on Saturday.

Klopp said: “Mo is back in full training, [so] that brings him automatically in contention of course.

“Ibou is not suspended anymore, Joey is fit again, Conor is back, Ali is back, so that’s all positive. Thiago, no. And Trent not [available], that’s true.”
