Plumptre, Waldrum Return To Super Falcons For Olympic Qualifiers

Super Falcons coach, Randy Waldrum and defender, Ashleigh Plumptre have returned to the team ahead of the 2024 Olympic qualifiers clash against Cameroon.

Waldrum’s contract expired after the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand and and the his contract was not renewed after the competition.

Justin Madugu has been in charge of the Super Falcons team on an interim basis. He is now set to return to his assistant coach position following the return of Waldrum.

According to reports, the Nigeria Football Federation has offered Randy Waldrum a contract extension, and the announcement is expected to be made in the next few weeks.

Ashleigh Plumptre took a break from the team after the World Cup, and she has been handed a recall back into the team for the Cameroon clash.

New Bay FC signing, Asisat Oshoala will lead the team for the encounter.

Halimatu Ayinde is also making a return to the team following her impressive performance at the 2023 Women’s World Cup.

The first leg is set to take place at the Stade de la Reunification in Douala, Cameroon, on Friday , February 23.

The Super Falcons will host the Lionesses at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium on Monday 26th February.
