La Liga Award: Messi Beats Ronaldo To Best Player OF 2014-2015

Barcelona striker, Lionel Messi was named La Liga’s best striker and best player of 2014-15 at the annual award ceremony on Monday.

The Argentine beat Real Madrid forward, Cristiano Ronaldo to the prestigious prize in Spanish football.

Messi, 28, scored 43 La Liga goals last campaign as Barca won the league title as well as the Copa del Rey and the Champions League.

Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez won the best midfielder award following his 2014 move from French side, Monaco, while team-mate Sergio Ramos, beat Gerard Pique and Nicolas Otamendi to the award of the Spanish top flight’s best defender last season.

Barcelona coach, Luis Enrique bagged the best coach award, after guiding his team to a treble winning debut season, while Barca’s No. 1 Claudio Bravo, was named best goalkeeper of 2014-15.

Brazil and Barcelona forward, Neymar was crowned the best South American player in La Liga last season piping team mate Luis Suarez and James Rodriguez to the prize, while Valencia midfielder Sofiane Feghouli was crowned the best African player in the 2014-2015 La Liga season.

Cristiano Ronaldo was named the fans’ player of the year.
