Man Drowns In Pool While Swimming With His Girlfriend In Anambra

One Izuchukwu Achusim, 42-years-old, of 35, Guest House Street, Fegge, Onitsha, was Sunday reported drowned in a pool while swimming with his girlfriend.

According to the police public relations officer of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Haruna Mohammed, the incident was reported at Central Police Station, Onitsha, on 15/8/2020 at about 8:30pm.

According to the report made available to THE WHISTLER in Awka, the incident occurred at the premises of Lotus Garden Hotel, Onitsha.

The statement read that, “The victim, who was said to be drunk, jumped into the deepest part of the pool and got drowned.The hotel manager and other guests pulled the victim out and rushed him to Waterside Hospital, Onitsha, for medical attention, but he was later certified dead by a medical doctor on duty. The scene was visited by police detectives, and the corpse photographed and deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy.”

Mohammed said the case was under investigation to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident, warning members of the public who lacked swimming skills to always take precautionary measures by using live jackets provided at swimming pools in order to avert similar ugly incidents.
