NAF Kills Notorious Terror Leader In Zamfara, Destroys Logistics Storage In Niger

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) said it has eliminated the most notorious terror leader, Kachallah Damina, including scores of his fighters in Zamfara State.

The operation took place on March 10, after NAF operatives launched airstrikes on a large number of terrorists, attempting to attack a community in Bungudu Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

Damina, an indigene of Kankara LGA in Zamfara is said to have wreaked havoc in Zamfara, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara state.

Until his death, Damina reportedly committed extreme attacks and gruesome killings. He is also known to have kidnapped victims for ransom and killed them when agreements were not met.

Counter-terrorist analyst, Zagazola Makama, Damina operated a big camp in Magami forest, known as Kango under the command of Buharin Daji and Nagala.

In another development, airstrikes by NAF aircraft under Operation WHIRL PUNCH (OPWP) have destroyed terrorists’ logistics storage situated in Palele near Shiroro LGA, in Niger State.

“Acting on credible intelligence indicating the presence of terrorists’ weapons cache East of Palele, authorisation was obtained to deploy air assets to neutralise the threat.

“The operation, which was executed with speed and precision, resulted in significant damage to the target area, including a secondary explosion confirming the destruction of arms and ammunition.

The weapons are believed to be affiliated to a particular terrorist’s kingpin who is on the Most Wanted List of terrorists,” NAF said.

The NAF said it would continue to maintain dominance over areas of concern through enhanced situational awareness, continuous patrols, and targeted interdiction of terrorists’ safe-havens.
