‘Nigerians Killing Nigerians’ In South Africa – FG

The Federal Government has accused ‘‘occultic’’ Nigerians of being responsible for the killing of their fellow citizens in South Africa.

Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Diaspora and Foreign Affairs, who made the claim in a tweet on Friday, said the discovery is ‘‘another dangerous dimension’’ in the plight of the country’s citizens who are being killed daily in South Africa.

Dabiri-Erewa said this in the light of a reported killing of the country’s citizens on Thursday in South Africa.

‘‘Another dangerous dimension is that Nigerian cult groups now operating in South African. Nigerians killing Nigerians. The killing yesterday was apparently retaliation from a rival cult group. Bad for Nigeria and Nigerians,’’ said the presidential adviser.

Reacting to a call made by the Socio-Economic Right And Accountability Project (SERAP) for the Federal Government to ‘‘call on the South African authorities to ensure access to justice and effective remedies for Nigerian and African victims of xenophobic violence in their country’’, Mrs Dabiri-Erewa said, ‘‘I made this suggestion last year and called on the AU to intervene. But I am told there is a diplomatic procedure to follow. I believe this should and will have to be tabled before the AU.’’

Meanwhile, the Diaspora and Foreign Affairs Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari met on Friday with the Security Adviser to the German Chancellor and the German Ambassador to discuss the migration issues currently affecting Nigeria.
