NUPENG Suspends Strike Notice As Oil Firm Recalls Sacked Workers

The union had said no fewer than 175 of its members working in YKISH Integrated Services for the offsite/onsite maintenance services with Chevron Nigeria Limited, Delog Nigeria Ltd and Euroflow Services, were sacked.

The President of the Union Prince Williams Akporeha and General Secretary, Afolabi Olawale, demanded a recall of the workers within seven days

In a statement on Wednesday, Akporeha said the union ordered the suspension following the immediate recall and reinstatement of the sacked workers and the ongoing discussions to resolve the other outstanding issues.‬

However, the union stated that the suspension of the strike ultimatum was not a total call-off but a respect for ongoing discussions it is having with Chevron.

It, however, expressed optimism that the management of the oil company would act in good faith so as to resolve the pending issues.
