Ondo Police Arrest Ferocious Pitbull Dog After Bitting Undergraduate’s Scrotum At Hostel

A dangerous pitbull dog, named Charlie, has reportedly bitten off part of the scrotum of an 18-year-old Opeyemi Sadiq, an undergraduate of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko in Ondo State.

Sadiq, who is a student of the Department of Animal Science, Faculty of Agriculture, was said to have gone to Vanilla Villa Hostel around the permanent site of the university to visit his friend, Abass Olagunju, a 400-level student of the same department when he was attacked by the dog.

Sadiq was said to be running to meet his friend in the hostel(owner of the dog), when Charlie, which was not tethered at the time, attacked him.

Some residents and the owner of the dog were said to have rushed to the rescued of the undergraduate.He was taken to hospital for treatment immediately after he was snatched from the mouth of the dog.

Students said police were called in and the dog was arrested and taken to their station.

The Public Relations Officer of
AAUA Students Union, Oluwafemi Adegbeyeni, who confirmed the incident, said the victim of the dog attack was still alive at the hospital.

He said he gathered from people around the place that the dog had been a threat to those who live around the place.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Ondo State, Funmi Odulami, said the police had arrested the dog which she said was two-year-three-month old,

She said the dog bit the upper thigh of the victim but the impact of the attack affected the victim’s scrotum. She stated that Sadiq had gone to visit his friend at the hostel when he was attacked by his friend’s dog.

The PPRO said, “Opeyemi Sadiq, who was running to meet the owner of the dog, was attacked by Charlie. The bite affected the skin of his scrotum. He was immediately rushed to Inland Specialist Hospital, Ikare, where he was treated and discharged.”
