PHOTOS: Buhari’s Visit Grounds Commercial Activities In Imo, Commuters Stranded

President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to Imo State on Thursday (today) grounded commercial activities in some parts of Owerri, the Imo State capital.

Buhari is in the southeastern state on official visit to commission some projects at the behest of Governor Hope Uzodinma.

THE WHISTELER reports that some roads such as the Douglas road, Bank road, Onitsha road as well as Wetheral Junction and Government House Junction in the state capital were deserted.

Our correspondent reports that although roads are not closed, commu in the state capital are unable to move around due to lack of passenger vehicles.

Meanwhile, the proscribed separatist group, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) had issued a sit-at-home order in protest against the president’s visit.

IPOB’s director of state, Chika Edozien, had declared that Buhari “is not welcome to Imo on Thursday, September 9, 2021” and warned Igbo leaders to stay away from ceremony organized by Governor Uzodimma to welcome the president.
