PHOTOS: Heavy Security In Imo As NLC Begins Strike

Ahead of the planned nationwide protest by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), the New Owerri environs of the Congress in Imo state have seen the surge of heavy security presence on Tuesday morning.

The NLC is embarking on a two-day against hardship ravaging the country.

The Imo State Commissioner of Police had on Monday promised a water tight security for the protesters when the state leadership of NLC visited him in Owerri.

However, the command’s Spokesman, Henry Okoye, explained that police were to ensure the security and safety of protesters.

He said, “The aim is to ensure that the procession is peaceful and doesn’t lead to any breakdown of law and order.”

At the time of this report, our reporter observed that few Labour union have started arriving at the party Secretariat, where they will commence the protest.
