Police Rescue Kidnap Victim ‘About To Be Murdered’ In Anambra

One Chukwunenye Nwachukwu Nwadiobu, popularly known as Akirika, of Amudo village in Anambra State, was Saturday night rescued by police operatives in conjunction with vigilantes when he was abducted by gunmen inside a tricycle close to Aroma junction.

THE WHISTLER gathered that Nwadiobu’s car, a Sienna with Reg No. AWK-334-SZ, was forced to pull over, and his abductors dragged him into their tricycle and whisked him to a thick bush at Ifite.

The police PRO, Anambra State Police Command, SP Haruna Mohammed, told our correspondent, Sunday, that the incident happened Saturday, around 8:30pm. He said, “Following the distress call, police operatives attached to B’ Division, Awka, in conjunction with vigilante members, responded swiftly, and went after the gang to a location inside an expansive bush at Agbani Ifite, Awka, where the assailants, on sighting the police, abandoned their badly beaten victim, later identified as one Chukwunenye Nwachukwu Nwadiobu, who was tied with a rope and about to be murdered on a laid-wooden stake.”

Mr Mohammed said exhibits recovered at the scene included a blue-and-white coloured tricycle with Reg No.AWK-161-VG, an ID card bearing one Ordinaka Ayaegbusi, also identified by the victim as one of his assailants, among other incriminating items. According to him, investigations were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects in order to bring them to justice.

Meanwhile, the commissioner of police, Anambra State, CP John B. Abang, commended those that provided the command the intelligence report, and reassured the public of adequate protection. He also called on Ndi Anambra to report any suspicious persons to the nearest police station, or call police emergency number 07039194332 for prompt.
