Recall that Tinubu had on Tuesday, appealed to eligible voters in the state, to reject Obaseki, who is seeking re-election for a second term on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The former Lagos State governor, who made the appeal in a sponsored broadcast on TVC, said Obaseki did not deserve the votes of the Edo people.

He said: “Obaseki does not deserve any democratic ballot paper. Don’t vote for him, I appeal to all of you.”

Tinubu claimed that he and many others struggled and suffered to return Nigeria to democratic governance.

But, in a statement, accompanied with a video, posted on his facebook page, Obaseki wrote: “#EdoNoBeLagos is loud and clear,” in an apparent way of telling Tinubu that he can not extend his godfatherism in Lagos to Edo state.

Tinubu is believed to be the undisputed godfather of Lagos, who has since the return of democracy, decided the political direction of the state.

The video, which has the soundtrack of the recently released song, ‘FEM’, by Nigerian singer, Davido, also included clips of the governor at different campaign fora.

FEM, a pidgin word, means shut up or keep quiet. The video started with the word “Jagaban” “Gu’nue,” which means shut up.

He said in the video: “In Edo today we have fought local godfather. The real one that is disturbing Nigeria is afraid. He knows that when we finish the Edo godfather on Saturday, then he is the next. We will end godfatherism in Nigeria.”

Obaseki’s main contender for the governorship seat is Osagie Ize Iyamu of the APC.

He has the support of the immediate past National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiohmole, Tinubu and the APC.
