Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo has dismissed concerns on the health status of President Muhammadu Buhari, saying he is “hale and hearty”.

The Vice President, while speaking to State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa on Monday, said that he had a “very long conversation” with President Buhari this afternoon.

The President, who was expected back from his medical vacation in the United Kingdom on Sunday, had to postpone the trip indefinitely due to health concerns.

“President Muhammadu Buhari has written to the national assembly today, February 5, 2017, informing of his desire to extend his leave in order to complete and receive the results of a series of tests recommended by his doctors,” the President’s spokesman Femi Adesina said in a statement on Sunday.

The decision to extend his stay raised concerns from all corners, with many insinuating that his health had deteriorated and that he may no longer be able to lead the country.

Osinbajo, who reacted to the reports, explained that he had today briefed the President on current happenings in the country.
