A source close to the couple said the incident happened on Tuesday in their home at Mbodo Community, Aluu, after a disagreement over how to handle fees collection in the wife’s school.

THE WHISTLER learnt troubled started when the deceased approached the husband and queried him why he was driving pupils away for failing to pay school fees without checking the records.

The deceased brother, Odinaka Opurum, on Wednesday morning told THE WHISTLER that his late sister was angry for the embarrassment the husband’s action caused her.

The school was reportedly established by the late Mrs. Solution Amadi before her marriage to the pastor in 2012.

Explaining how his sister died, Opurum said,
“The husband went to the school (Tuesday November 10) and started drove pupils away for failing to pay school fees. When parents now called the wife to ask why she drove their kids away even after paying, she appealed to them not to be angry and promised to rectify the situation.

“When she got to the house, they started quarreling again and the husband started beating her. He then started to strangle her to the point that she collapsed and became unconscious. When he saw she was no longer responding, he rushed her to a clinic close to their house but the clinic confirmed her dead and referred him to UPTH. Instead of taking her to UPTH as they advised, he took her to the house, covered her with wrapper, packed some clothes in a bag, locked all the doors and attempted to run away.

“Unfortunately, the cab man who helped carried my sister’s corpse to the clinic alerted the neighbors after he had waited for the pastor. The neighbours inturn called on me to quickly come over.

“We alerted the Aluu Police Station and they moved in on time and nabbed him to the station for further investigation and interrogations.”

Opurum alleged that yesterday’s incident was not the first time the pastor had beaten his sister. He said it had been recurring, but his sister, out of love and the position of Marriage counsellor which she occupies in church, decided to endure in order not to set a bad example for young girls and her four children.
