Sequel to the plea by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) to the Federal Government for a special bailout fund, Senate President, Bukola Saraki has requested a financial statement of funds received from sponsors by the federation as prerequisite to get assistance.

“The Senate President has asked the NFF to present their sponsorship accounts since 2015 for him to take a position on their request for a special government bailout,” a top official informed.

“This account is to be presented today (Thursday), just as the Senate President admitted he has received reports on how monies from sponsorships have been applied over time.”

Recall that on Tuesday NFF president, Amaju Pinnick told the senate that the football federation is broke and will not be able to charter a flight and pay hotel bills for the Super Eagles trip to Zambia for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifier.

The NFF boss added that the foreign based players were told to pay for their flight tickets to their training camp in Abuja and also were advised to pay for economy.

He then demanded for a financial bailout from the government as a result of their challenges.
