Senate Explains Why Ahmed Gulak Visited Imo

The Senate on Tuesday condemned the murder of Ahmed Gulak, All Progressives Congress chieftain, who was killed on Sunday by suspected gunmen.

Coming under Order 43 of the Senate Rule Book, Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege disclosed that the late Gulak was in Owerri, the Imo State capital, as a consultant working for the Senate Committee on Constitution Amendment.

The Deputy Senate President who described the incident as “an assassination and one too many,” said that members of the committee were shattered by the event, as he called on security agents to investigate and arrest those who plotted the murder of the former presidential aide.

In his remarks, Ahmad Lawan, the Senate President, described the deceased as “very straight forward, committed and one who made tremendous contributions to Adamawa State and Nigeria as a whole.”

This was as he enjoined security agents to unravel the actual circumstances surrounding Gulak’s death, by investigating and exposing all those behind his assassination.

Lawan further tasked “intelligence agencies to continue to fish out those behind such plots before they happen.”

Gulak was allegedly trailed by assailants on his way to the Sam Mbakwe Airport in Owerri, and was identified and killed.

According to a police report, the slain APC chieftain boarded a cab which driver took unusual routes where they were blocked by gun trotting men in a Sienna vehicle.
