Top Nollywood Stars Eyeing Political Seats In 2019

Nollywood stars, Kanayo O Kanaya, Kenneth Okonkwo, Yul Edochie and Niteclub business man Shina Piller have joined the league of celebrities, who are venturing into politics ahead of the 2019 general elections.

In the past, Julius Agwu, Kate Henshaw and Desmond Elliot had deleved into politics different points in time.

Here is a list of entertainers running for political positions in the forthcoming election.

Kanayo O. Kanayo
Veteran actor Anayo Modestus Onyekwere known as Kanayo O. Kanayo is one of the entertainers who made Nollywood lively for us.

He had shown interest to run for a political post in the 2019 general election.

Onyekwere became highly famous after starring as Chief Omego in the 1992 blockbuster movie “Living in Bondage”

The movie star will be running the seat of a member of the House of Representatives in Ahiazu/ Ezinihitte Mbaise Federal Constituency, Imo State under the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA). He made this know on his Instagram page on Wednesday June 6, 2018.

Kenneth Okonkwo
Kenneth Okonkwo is one of the most successful and celebrated actors in the Nigerian movie industry. He is one of the pioneers of the movie industry in Nigeria because he was the lead role in the first movie ever produced in the industry.

Kenneth Okonkwo alongside Anayo came into lime light in 1992 when he starred in “Living in Bondage’, a Nollywood movie in which he was the main character as MR Andy.

Okonkwo has revealed that he wants to be the next governor of his state Enugu in the next governorship elections. The veteran actor who is known for his spontaneous acting prowess revealed his new intention via his Instagram page on Sunday, March 4, 2018, where he posted a couple of photos from his declaration event.

Yul Edochie
Yul Edochie, apart from being a very talented actor, is the son of Nigerian actor Pete Edochie.

Edochie had once run for the position governorship of Anambra state and lost to the incumbent governor, Willy Obiano.

He was however, on June 6, 2018, appointed the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State on Creative and Entertainment Media

The actor turned politician took to his Instagram page on April 23, 2018, to make a declaration that he will run for the 2019 Presidential Elections under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance Party. According to the actor, he wants to bring the problems of the country to the last bus stop.
