Two Nigerian Pilgrims Cleared Of Drug Trafficking In Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabian Government have released two out of three pilgrims who were recently arrested for being in possession of substance suspected to be cocaine.

The two pilgrims from Kwara State were released on Monday following investigation that revealed they were not guilty of the offence.

National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), which confirmed their release in a statement in Abuja, noted that the suspects were arrested in error.

“The two suspects were set free after it was discovered that the allegation for which they were arrested was false.”

The authorities are yet to release the identities of the affected pilgrims, despite the expression of worry residents of kwara, whose relatives are performing this year Hajj exercise.

The pilgrims were arrested on August 9 and 12 over alleged trafficking of drugs into Saudi Arabia.
